Sing for our supper

Dave and I decided to try our luck at mackerel fishing at the wharf this afternoon but luck we did not have this time around. We caught a grand total of 0 fish so I guess we'll have to sing for our supper, he he he. When the kids were younger we used to be on the wharf almost every evening during the summer months. Good memories !!!

In our defence, we were told by experienced fishers that we should have been there two hours earlier at high tide. Oh well, next time.

Récolte

After a nice gentle strole in the gardens yesterday here is what we came up with :

How lucky are we - our strawberries produce early and late summer.

I was gifted with these handmade-by-my-brother snowshoes. If anyone knows of someone that makes leather binders I would love to know.

Another gorgeous day out there.

Almost house trained

For the past week we've been setting the humane trap at various locations in the house trying to catch this cute but very invading little creature. We've had a lot of squirrels on our property this summer and usually we only get about 1 or 2 that get into the house. If they stay outside we don't catch them in the trap but when they start watching tv and eating Dave's sunflower seeds while relaxing in his favorite arm chair.... well it's time to move on and go further in the woods.

I think this one was number 10 that we had to trap and release in the wild. Yes, we got him early this morning after trying to catch him all week.

More retreat pics

A few more snapshots from the Nature and Yoga Retreat I was at last week... wish I was still there.
Inside our little cabin taken from the loft. We made fire in the woodstove almost every night and a few mornings.

Me relaxing at the lake.

Do you see the kayak in the mist ? We had mist on the lake most mornings.

Stay tuned, I'm putting together the content and photos from two amazing ceremonies we had.

Product review :: here we go again

I've been contacted by CSN Stores to see if I was interested in doing another product review. Well yes I do ! This on-line store(s) has everything and anything. You can easily spend hours surfing their over 200 stores. I find stuff here that I would'nt have access to any where else (I live in a very rural area; remember).

The other night I found myself in the Dining Room Furniture section of CSN Stores. Those that know me well enough know that I love a more relaxed, casual look in my home so you can well imagine my eye caught this, this and my favorite.

These favs will not be my review this time, a girl can dream right ! However, I'm pretty sure I know what I'll choose this time. Stay tuned, I'll let you know. But in the meantime, if you have a few spare moments one evening hop on over at CSN Stores. You'll love what you see.

Side note but still related - have you ever seen one of these? I have and they are not often seen in stores in my neck of the woods. Once you've tasted food slowly cooked in one of these, you'll be in love. Believe me...

Thankful and grateful

I can't seem to find the appropriate words to describe my experience at the Nature and Yoga Retreat I was at last week. I don't think there are such beautiful words in the dictionnary. Seven days of pure heaven (really !) I am so thankful to my yoga instructor Kerry for coordinating and putting all this together. She is a true yogi inside and out. She was a huge inspiration to me when I first started on this yogic journey. And grateful for the knowledge that was shared that week, the delicious meals prepared for us and the friendships I came home with. As soon as you walk through those gates, ''everything'' slows down.

Since I can't find words to describe my experience last week, I will leave you with a few pictures (more to follow later in the week).

Girl on the left is my regular yoga teacher and on the right is our other room mate for the week.

Getting ready for Sutra teachings in the Chapel.

The guru from India, Yogiji.

Getting things ready for flame (candle) meditation Wednesday night.

All like-minded people, sharing their joy and love for seven days. I think this was the best gift I have ever given myself. It has forced me to slow down, be present/in the moment and concentrate on one-pointedness.

Yes, I would (and will) go again !

Nature and Yoga Retreat

Tomorrow I'm leaving for one week... going deep into the woods at a Nature and Yoga Retreat. Living off the land, no electricity (propane heated showers) relaxing, reading, knitting, laughing, eating vegetarian meals, studying yoga and of course doing yoga - all this with a bunch of like-minded people. To see more of what I'm talking about, see this video. These two pictures were taken two years ago when Dave and I went for a walk-about on the grounds one fine October day.

Below - see that little rustic cabin on the left... that will be mine and three other yogis' home for the week.

It will be a little quiet around this blog for the week but I'll try and post an update as soon as possible when I come back.

Be well everyone !
