Camping

Last week Dave and I went camping for 4 days at a very beautiful National Park.  It had been at least 10 years since we had gone.   What a fun time we had.  I'll let you judge for yourselves with these pictures.

Wooden Monkey

A few weeks ago Dave and I took a day trip to Halifax (actually I needed to find a mother-of-the-groom dress; and I did). An excellent restaurant for us is at the Wooden Monkey (that building behind me with the yellow trim). The food is fresh and delicious. They value and honor the 100 mile diet.
After devouring our yummy lunch we headed down to the Halifax Waterfront (always a popular spot during the summer months). Here I am with Theodore.

Stay-cation :: Cape Sainte-Marie

Approximately 15 km from our home you will find this beauty of a gem - Cape Sainte-Marie. This little seaside village is where you'll find Mavillette Beach. Many of the residents here are seasonal so you can imagine the busy-ness during the summer months and the quietness in the off-season. You can easily spend an entire day here - swimming, sand castle building, bird watching, beachcombing, surfing or cruising with your bike. Which is what Dave and I did last Sunday :

Stay-cation :: The Garden Path

As declared here in May (sorry I did'nt feature a favorite stay-cation spot in June) I am featuring another stay-cation suggestion for you to visit. This gem is only about 50km from our home. You'll have to travel a certain distance in the woods and a small length of dirt road but it sure is worth it. We went yesterday and look at the gorgeous day we picked to go.

The Garden Path ! A couple in South Range, Digby County, started gardening in 1999. They started with one small bed to see if they would like it...

... as they say ''the rest is history''. I think they liked it. The picture above is their front yard.

A few years ago they opened their gardens to the public. You tour at your leisure, stopping, admiring and snapping away as you please. You can even bring a book and find a favorite spot (I would pick the swing) and read for a while.

Ginette and Dave.

Again, in the BIG chair.

Stay-cation :: Smuggler's Cove

Dave and I are proud of our quiet little community. We love it here, it's our little hidden gem. I'm going to try something new here. At least once a month, I'll feature a favorite spot of ours (within 100 km from home). Let's call it ''Stay-cation''. We don't have to travel far to see beauty.

Let's start with Smuggler's Cove in Meteghan (10 km). Read more about it here. In the past 34 years, Dave and I have spent countless hours walking around this provincial park and going down the many, many steps down to the cove and coming back up those many steps. You can catch some of the world's most beautiful sunsets here.

We went tonight for the first time this season. To our surprise the steps are under repairs and we were faced with a baracade and a warning sign but we wanted to go all the way down so we figured out a way (I should say ''Dave'' figured out a way).
