Frenchy's treasures and pies

I realized this past week that I kinda took the summer off from blogging on a regular basis but you know, I was busy with other ''just as important'' stuff. However, I have NOT abandoned my weekly trips to Frenchy's. And boy o boy I found beautiful stuff during the summer. Here are two of those wonderful finds (not found on the same visit) - A North Face jacket and a North Face down-filled vest. Everytime I wear my jacket someone is going to say what I beautiful jacket I have and how they love the color (I agree, it is a nice blue color). And I am sooooooo proud to say where I got it.

As mentioned here in a previous post, last evening I was up to my elbows in apple pies. I made tons of tiny ones for lunch cans and a few large ones to freeze for the cooler weather up ahead.

Wishing everyone a good start of the week tomorrow ! One more week and Dave and I are off water rafting - yippy !!!!!

Apples for pie

Tonight Dave and I went apple picking with my mom. We only wanted one bag-full each but we ended up picking each two bags, it's so much fun picking them and the bag is full in no time at all. They're cortland apples so they will keep most of the winter in a dark, cool place. Dave and I's two bags will not go to waste.

Mom was enjoying herself so much.

There are some pretty BIG ones !

Guess what's on my to-do list for the weekend...

Changing colors

Not only the leaves are changing colors this time of the year... we are changing the color of our home; the exterior. It's been grey with wine shutters for 15 years (it pays to paint with Ben Moore paint). The new color is Putty, of course by Benjamin Moore. The new shutters will be a brick color. I say new because Dave will be making new ones during the winter months in his spare time. The ones we have now have a cut-out heart in the middle and I'm not exactly arts and craft country. I'm more farmhouse country - the ''real'' country stuff.

We also replaced the three smaller windows and the one in the attic (on the other side of the house) will be replaced also.

Quiet, busy weekend

We are back to our normal routine but it seems unreal that just one week ago we were in the middle of a grand celebration - our daughter's wedding. I say this often and I will say it again - time is flying right in front of our eyes. I am pretty much caught up with my rest. I was in bed at 9:30 p.m. almost every night this past week.

The smell of Fall is in the air and it's making me very happy. If you're a follower of this blog you know this is my favorite season.

Yesterday I canned 10 pints of tomatoes from our garden. This year I added herbs (also from our garden) to the mix.

Saturday I made our mustard pickles. From past experiences this is the only kind we eat all winter so I only made this kind for this year.

We've been having amazing weather lately. Yesterday we went for a walk on the beach...

... then we went to a pocket-wilderness deep in the woods. A fine day it was.

Puss and I check to see if we have an email from Ginette and André from Italy - they write about every second day.
