Heat and horseflies

This summer's heat brought with it an army of horseflies... and they are annoying. Always one or two buzzing around your head. Tonight they chased us away from the woods. We had to head to the beach to take a break from the heat and the horseflies.

Even at the beach you should never leave an open fire - a few buckets of water and it all turns to smoke.

I'd have to say it is a hard life you lead... ;)

Looks like a lot of fun!

What a way to spend the evening , near the ocean by a fire. Love the photos!

Hi Vickie: I discovered your blog a day or two ago and went back and read it right through to this last post of yours. I must say I love your rich but simple life. I too try to live leaving as small a carbon footprint as possible, just up the shore from you, near Hall's Harbour. Just going to pour a nice strong cup of Just Us! fair trade coffee which I grind fresh each morning and then press.
Yum!
We are so lucky to live in Nova Scotia!!
