Changing colors

Not only the leaves are changing colors this time of the year... we are changing the color of our home; the exterior. It's been grey with wine shutters for 15 years (it pays to paint with Ben Moore paint). The new color is Putty, of course by Benjamin Moore. The new shutters will be a brick color. I say new because Dave will be making new ones during the winter months in his spare time. The ones we have now have a cut-out heart in the middle and I'm not exactly arts and craft country. I'm more farmhouse country - the ''real'' country stuff.

We also replaced the three smaller windows and the one in the attic (on the other side of the house) will be replaced also.

I love the way it looks. We actually took the shutters off our farmhouse a few years back. When we bought the house it was white with green shutters, quite a common thing for old farms. But those shutters took as long to paint as the whole house and since we don't do it ourselves, we decided to skip the expense. Our house is now gray and needs to be painted again. We're on a sunny, windy hill and the paint wears off too quickly. I'm going to look into that putty color. :<)

The house looks fantastic! Painting and new windows have been a big part of our summer, too. :) It's so nice to have it (almost) done! Enjoy!

Nan and Sherrie - thanks. We love the new color. I knew I was going to go with Putty for some time now. We were waiting for the painters. I find the color suits an older home very well.

Merci Gi. C'est presque fini. Ils ont travaillé hier (samedi) toute la journée. Il reste que l'avant du logi, du côté de ta chambre.

Thanks Colleen. We are growing attached to the color :-) I enjoy seeing renovations being done on our home (especially when they're finished) even if it's only a painted room, new window, etc.
