Purpose

"Purpose" (noun) - The reason for which anything is done, created or exists.

"Raison d'être" - reason or justification for existing.

Yesterday our second (and last) child left our home to explore a new world for himself. Four years ago our daughter did the same thing and yesterday my heart felt heavy and empty just as it did four years ago. The best way I can describe how I feel is to say that I have a hole in my soul... but everything heals with time.

You might have to excuse me for a few days as I repurpose my role as a mother. Having your children live as adults away from the home is no way near the same as having them part of the everyday inside the home.

I'd tuck you in all safe at night
Hear your prayers and turn out the light
Then tiptoe softly to the door
I wish I had stayed a minute more

For life is short and years rush past
Our children grow up so fast
No longer are they at your side

The picture books are put away
There are no children games to play
No goodnight kiss, no prayers to hear
That all belongs to yesteryear

My hands once busy now lie still
The days are long and hard to fill
I wish I might go back and do
The little things we used to do

Don't let the bed bugs bite !

Talk to you all in a week.

Oh Vickie, I feel for you. I know that in a few short years I will be in the same place and feeling some of the same feelings. It is really making me cherish every moment I have with them.
If you need to talk I am just an email/letter/phone call away.

Love Colleen xo

I never had to have that "empty nest" feeling as strongly as you probably are having it. Mainly because my first husband and I shared the kids and I was an empty nester for 2 weeks our of the month to begin with. I can feel for you though. I am sure you will get through this just fine but my heart is with you!

Vickie, As a mom whose children have moved away I can tell you that it gets so much easier and the best part is they leave as one but always bring more back.

Look at my luck with Sebrina, she left alone but came back with my fantastic son-in-law Mike and then brought 4 beautiful grandchildren into our lives. Five times more blessings!!!! B

I remember that empty nest feeling , it gets easier with time. But , now they're married with kids and it's like revolving doors at Nana's.
Which is a Blessing to me , but sometimes I wish for that peace and solitude again , it doesn't last long though. I love my Family and can't imagine life any other way.
Sending you a nice warm Hug ....

~ Blessings ~
