Hanging on

This little apple is hanging on, just doesn't want to give in to the cold weather.

Today here in Canada it's Remembrance Day. The day we pay respect to the men and women who have been to war or that are at war right now. This day is very special for me. I would spend most of the day watching the war documentaries on television with my father. He was a WWII veteran. We would watch TV in complete silence except for a rare comment here and there. The men (and women) of war did'nt really want to talk about their journey. Can you imagine what they saw; so horrifying. Thank you so much for everything.

My father died when I was 16 years old. I did'nt get enough time with him. I'm still hanging on to the memories I have of him. We were fishing buddies.

November 11th also marks the date when my favorite aunt died, 7 years ago. I still can't believe she's gone.

Today - I made bread. I forgot to take an after picture but take my word - it's delicious.

We celebrated Veteran's Day yesterday too. Most of my Dad's family were in the military , my Grand Daddy was in WWI , 5 of Dad's brothers served during wartime. My Dad wanted to join the military at a young age , but my Grandmother said no , she wouldn't sign for him to join. My Dad was the baby of 13 , 9 boys ~ 4 girls , one of the boys died at a young age , but out of the 8 , 5 served plus my Grand Daddy , so my Grandmother said her family had did their duty for this country.

My friend's son stayed with me and the Grands yesterday since he was out of school , his Dad is in Iraq. We did a small candle lighting ceremony to honor all veterans. You were so young when you lost your Father , it's great you have those memories to cherish.

~ Be Blessed ~

Thank you so much JoyceAnn for your lovely comment. WOW, you have a lot of family members that went to war.

Yes, my father has been gone for a long time. He was only 52 when he died. He never got to meet my husband or my two wonderful kids.

My Dad's dad was in WWI and my Dad was in the Korean war.

I had my Dad until I was 27, but I miss him greatly too.
