Another project

What have we gotten ourselves into this time !!!!! Our field out back is wide-open but our property surrounding our home is covered with a lot of trees. So last week we decided to trim the hedge that divides us and our neighbour. That hedge was planted 20 years ago so most of it has turned into actual trees. We are lumberjacks for a while. Dave is getting a lot of help from our son. You know, those young fellas with big popeye arms.

And to make things a little more interesting, our chainsaw decided to act up on us and call it quits. We have to take it in for a few minor repairs. It'll give us a break from lumbering.

Last count - we cut 12 hedges and we still have about 10 to cut.

Not bad for a day's work but I think I'll keep my day job.

Sounds like great fun!! However, I am not allowed to go near an axe let alone a chainsaw! Ever since I chopped a piece of my thumb off with an axe, I seem to be banned from using large sharp objects... :) It is a cute story, even though it has a gory spin...it was Diego and I's first date...we were camping backcountry in Keji and Diego asked me to chop the kindling...never having handled an axe before its no wonder I cut off and eighth of my thumb...thank goodness it was the side and not the top! Needless to say, it bled a lot but we were able to get it under control, finish up a beautiful weekend and make a quick hospital stop on our way back to Halifax! He actually asked me to be his girlfriend on the Friday night that we arrived, I felt like I was in grade 6, no one had actually asked me that in years! I guess my head was in the clouds the next morning further inhibiting my very limited axe wielding skills! That'll be 7 years ago this October...we go back every year for our anniversary to the same campsite! :)

Enjoy lumberjacking but be careful with the chainsaws!

Wow lots of free firewood you have there - do you have an indoor fireplace or wood stove?

Good idea getting the younguns to help :)
