Why is it so satisfying getting ready for the long Winter months (maybe not for everyone but for me it is). Knitting socks, mitts, scarfs and sweaters, canning and preserving food, cutting firewood, harvesting from the garden - I just LOVE doing these things. It's not hard work for me at all, I almost feel quilty because I like it so much.
If you did'nt plant a garden this year... visit a farmers' market, it's such a nice feeling.

Oh yum. Those string beans look so yummy -- so green. I could go for a big plate of those right about now. I am so sorry we didn't plant any this year.
