Fallen chestnut tree
We've known for a while that sooner then later the old chestnut tree sitting pretty in front of our home was going to tilt so much forward that it would crack and fall. At 10:10 p.m. last night.... it did. We are going to miss this beautiful piece of the landscape on our property. It was all bloomed and pretty for the Summer but it was time.

Sneak peek
I can finally show you part of the newly renovated bathroom. All except the window treatment and the sink/countertop. Too bad the picture doesn't do the shower curtain justice. It's made of a nice linen, with dragon flies embroidered all over it. I love it.
One of the best feature of our new bathroom is the floor. Dave did a really nice job with the floor. The paint color on the wall is Rocky Road by Benjamin Moore. It still surprises me to not see a lilac toilet seat, tub and sink. Do I miss the lilac color, is that a tear in my eye...
... ya right !
Light fixture we got at Home Depot in Moncton. Nicely installed by our handy man electrician Luc.
Will have pictures of the toilet in a later post.

Happy in the rain
These pictures are not of the best quality because they were taken in heavy wind and rain about 30 minutes ago. I love rain. Can't say I hate it. When it's a warm gentle rain, it's nice.

Lilacs are looking nice and pretty. If only you could smell this picture, smells sooooooo nice. Dave and I planted this lilac bush when our daughter was born... guess that makes it almost 26 years old. When our son was born we planted a cedar tree.

Iris' are also enjoying their shower of rain.

My inspirational stone I made yesterday for the lavender garden.

Oatmeal
If you like eating oatmeal you'll love John McCann's Irish Oatmeal . I had it for the first time over a year ago and it's the only kind I have. It's texture is more crunchy, steel cut. Takes longer to cook but it's well worth the wait. I made a pot this morning.

At the end of the day
Yesterday I read an article in a local newspaper The Yarmouth Vanguard, entitled "After the Crash". It chronicles a tragic car crash that occured in June 2004 in Yarmouth County that killed two teenagers, one of them the driver's bestfriend. The driver of the vehicle survived.
A quote from one of the teenager's father has been with me since yesterday and I would love to share it with you :
"Three years later, in our home we don't quibble over things like a dent in the fender or a power bill anymore. In the grand scheme of things, it's just not that important". He goes on saying "Life is not always what we want it to be, but at the end of the day we have to deal with what we have, as much as it hurts".
Happy Friday and make the most of your day... laugh, play, sing, dance, be silly. But most important - don't forget to smile !!!!!

Biking
This morning Dave and I planted the last of the veggie seeds in the garden. Seeing it was an out of this world gorgeous sunny day we decided to dedicate the afternoon to biking. We went to the Yarmouth Lighthouse.

My shorter then usual haircut.

Having a light picnic.

Could the sky be a nicer shade of blue ?
Then we headed off to Port Maitland Beach to eat our supper.

Wise as a rat
You've heard the saying 'Wise as a rat'. Well we have one of those wise ones in the flower garden right next to the kitchen window. For the past two weeks I've tried everything possible to catch him. We would like to catch him in the humane trap and then go drop him off in the woods next to the lake. But, he is way too wise to get caught in the trap. I've tried white bread, whole wheat bread, peanut butter, cheddar cheese and today we put cheese slices in the trap. Nope, he walks around the trap eating all the bird seeds on the ground. And did I mention he is BIG !!!! To be continued.... hopefully a picture with a certain rat in the trap.
